Sometimes it’s in the small things that we can see how one action can affect many more things around you than we could imagine, and why Short Term Insurance can be so important in our life.
The history that I will tell you next is an example of that. In 1515 the King D. Manuel of Portugal, when Portugal well economically, there was a new pope elected, which in turn was from the family of bankers of King Manuel. And from one of the most important Italian families, Giovanni de ‘Medici who was consecrated with the name of Leo X ,and that was the last non-priest to be consecrated pope, (which shows us that even in religion the religion sometimes takes second place).
Continuing, the king to continue the good relations with his banker, had sent Tristao da Cunha go to Italy to take lavish gifts to the pope, and also sent a rhino in a ship by sea as a gift, something that at the time was hard to see in Europe. The ship did not arrive at the destination, the ship sank and the rhinoceros drowned, and was gone to the french coast in a beach of the west of Marseille.
The rhino has been collected and embalmed, and this made possible to Albrecht Durer, an great artist, to make one of his best known drawings “the rhinoceros”. The image was based on a written description and brief sketch by an unknown artist of that rhino.
After all that even had a better fate than that which we thought he would have, but the King D. Manuel lose his moneu in that gifts because he didn´t had a insurance.
