MAYDAY is the name of the portable lamp invented by Konstantin Grcic, that was the winner of the Compasso d`Oro award in 2001, a prestigious design award, an useful and versatil object. As his creator said:

“I designed the MAYDAY lamp to be a tool. It has a practical handle which incorportates the ON/OFF switch and two spikes to wind up the 5 meter long cable. A big hook on the end of the handle comes in helpful to install the lamp wherever needed (…) MAYDAY is not designed for anywhere in specific.”

As you see, there are better options for illuminate your parties. Ok,i t could be more expensive than other options, but isn´t all days that you can have a illumination with some class in the preparation of your wedding.

Any good company, international company, or even a small business can be the best in their business field, but if they don´t have a good appearence it doesn´t work. When i say good appearence I´m talking about the logo. The logo design is very important and for that you need a good designer. All big companies like Nike, Coca-cola, Microsoft, Mcdonalds, Shell, Google and others have great designers doing their logos. They do that because they know the importance of logo as the company image.

I have been searching for some logos in the internet and I found a interesting work made by “Logo Design Guru” company. They make great logos, you should see their site. If someday I have a business, I will talk with them to make the image of my company.

Christmas card

During my search to do the christmas postcards for my sister´s boss, that I told you in my last post. I have found a lot of things about this business. Some of them were funny, others a little bit strange.

Some companies do a lot of things and other just specifically one thing. The company that caught more my attention was one with a business christmas cards, that only makes cards for special holidays like christmas, religious dates, new year and some more ones. They have really interesting design, the most of them are classical ones, that everyone remembers since childhood.

Now I understand the importance of specialization in these days for all kinds of industry. It brings better results.

I saw in a online lighting shop, this beautiful chandelier. It is designed in a old fashion way, most precisely European. When I saw this Salamanca five light chandelier I thought it was Art Déco, but later I understand that it was made recently.

War, man-of-war, Camouflage and Art

Do you already seen some ship´s camouflage? If you never seen it, I will show you some for the first time in your life. I´m given such importance to this matter, because as you will see in this pictures below, this camouflage have something to do with fashion.

Yes fashion, why? Because in fashion people try to camouflage who they really are, and the fashion designers try to input is ideals to other people. In War what happens is the same thing, who starts fighting is trying to
input their ideals to others. But who they are really fighting are themselves, the person that they don´t want to be.

Returning to the ship´s camouflage, this habit was most developed in the second World War, and were made several studies about the visual impact of that kind of camouflage in the vision of the enemy. In the meanwhile this ideia of ship´s camouflage was already used by romans. Some of the camouflage were made to wide the ship, others to induce the enemy in error in the moment they fire against them, others are a little bit ridiculous and absurd. But all of them even the most ridiculous are beautiful and adorable.

Some of them I think we can said, are artworks. They are almost a conceptual artwork.
