Song theme in spiderman´s cartoon.

Spiderman, there is someone who doesn´t know who is spiderman? I think not, unless it is someone from another planet. And who likes spiderman? I usually like the guy, except when Peter refuses to kiss Mary Jane to defend his alter ego. Ok, I realized that if he did that he could lose his secret identity, and his saga had to end… but come on guy, you should be more romantic.

And who has seen Spiderman? I hope none of you, because anyone when someone sees spiderman they certainly didn´t had a good day; most likely they were robbed or attacked, or they are stealing or attacking someone. Anyway, I cannot help but feeling that Spiderman and possibly other superheroes work like a form of mental pressure – to uphold all kinds of social laws, ethics and morals attitudes that we are taught from early, as to keep us in good behavior.

So, I leave you here the opening music from the original Spiderman cartoon, so you can do some thinking about these things: could these beings, these so-called super heroes work look like a big brother that keeps watching over us, and even oppressing us a little bit with their high ideals? I am not saying to stop watching cartoons, I also still watch them all the time; I’m just saying, like pause for a moment to think about the show’s production, to think about what we’re being fed. Alright? Now, let’s watch the video.

Animals, Art, Portugal. the rhino of albert durer and short term insurance

Sometimes it’s in the small things that we can see how one action can affect many more things around you than we could imagine, and why Short Term Insurance can be so important in our life.

The history that I will tell you next is an example of that. In 1515 the King D. Manuel of Portugal, when Portugal well economically, there was a new pope elected, which in turn was from the family of bankers of King Manuel. And from one of the most important Italian families, Giovanni de ‘Medici who was consecrated with the name of Leo X ,and that was the last non-priest to be consecrated pope, (which shows us that even in religion the religion sometimes takes second place).

Continuing, the king to continue the good relations with his banker, had sent Tristao da Cunha go to Italy to take lavish gifts to the pope, and also sent a rhino in a ship by sea as a gift, something that at the time was hard to see in Europe. The ship did not arrive at the destination, the ship sank and the rhinoceros drowned, and was gone to the french coast in a beach of the west of Marseille.

The rhino has been collected and embalmed, and this made possible to Albrecht Durer, an great artist, to make one of his best known drawings “the rhinoceros”. The image was based on a written description and brief sketch by an unknown artist of that rhino.

After all that even had a better fate than that which we thought he would have, but the King D. Manuel lose his moneu in that gifts because he didn´t had a insurance.

Be helped by a New York video productions

One of my hobbies is animation, I usualy make them with drawings, I make hundreds of drawings, but the most difficult part is the editing of it. In this process I´m still an amateur, it´s difficult because you need to work with music, image and editing programs, and just for a guy is to much. Searching for some tips I found a New York video productions company, these guys are very professionals. During the visit to their site I almost forget what I was looking for, but it was good because I realized the importance of being professional in what you do.

If you see some of their work you will understand what I´m saying. They think in all details since the begginig until the end before start doing the work. I realized too, that team work is important in these kind of projects, and their team work seems good. The company, Aurora Coast Productions, make every kind of works connected with video productions. They have made works for Mercedes, Trump, Johnson & Johnson, and much more big brands. They do small works too and this is really nice because if you need help to make a film from a music concert, an animation or something like this, they are a good option.

“Séraphine”

Some days ago I went to cinema to see the movie “Seraphine”. The movie is about the life of a French painter
Séraphine Louis, best known as Séraphine de Senlis. Her artwork together with the artworks from other artists like Rousseau formed the naif style.

She never studied art. She belongs from a poor family and began to work as a sheperdess, later starts working in housekeeping.

This job will have a major importance in her carrier, because the destiny will make possible that Wilhelm Uhde see her paintings when she works as his housekeeper. For Wilhelm was an amazing discovery because he didn´t know about her paintings.

The reason for his ignorance about that, was the fact of Séraphine make her paintings secretly isolated during the night after her arduous day job. Wilhelm was astonished when he discovered the author of these exotic paintings with intensive colours, and starts to finance Séraphine to stop working as housekeeper and work only in her paintings.

Many things happened during their lives, some due to the character of Séraphine, others because of the First World War, that hindered her carrier.
During her life she never got to know the success of her artworks.

In the movie Yolande Moreau is Séraphine, and she makes an extraordinary role. You´ve got to see this movie. It´s an amazing story. This movie won several César Awards, seven Césars, including best film and best actress.

Confortable ways of watching movies.

I love cinema, but I spend a lot of money to watch the movies I want. In the TV the movies they pass I have seen them three or four times and their choices are bad.
If I want to see the movies I want I need to go at the cinema our at the video store. Internet helps with my problem, but download the full movies online, I need to search the link to download the movie, if is a foreign movie I need to search the subtitles, in all this steps my head almost explode.

Now I find a better solution, a website where watch free movies is simple, http://letmewatchthis.com , they have a lot of films you can watch, you don´t need to do all the boring steps I have talked before, you don´t need to go at the video store to pick some movie, you simple can watch the full movies online. It is not everything, in that website you can talk about the movies with other people because they have a chat room here people talk about it, so, if you are with difficulties with your choice you can talk with some one to have an opinion about the movies you wanna see.

Damien Hirst skull, death and vanity

Have you already seen the skull made by damien hirst? If you didn´t saw, you should see.

Why you should see? There are many and various reasons to see his work. Because it´s the most expensive work of art ever sold in all art history. Because it can be an extraordinary art work. Because some people say that Damien is one of the biggest artist in our time, and other people say that his works are not art.

Why some people say that his work is not art? The reason for these accusations being made are the materials used by Damien in his works. He uses some animals and things like that in his works. But if we think about his work, we will see that his subject is about death and vanity.

And the skull that I was talking at the begining it´s all encrusted with diamonds, and in this work he put us thinking about vanity, and how people even when they die, they continue with their vanity. It´s as if we had pride in being alive,it´s like a way to celebrate life.

If what he does is art or not? I don´t want to say no or yes. But the true is that his work puts us to think about death and in vanity, and the most important, in the art market.

Gerard Richter´s stained glass window for the Cologne cathedral

Gerard Richter is one of the most expensive artists of our time and he deserve it. Why? He is one of the most important artist for the art of our days.
His works reflected about all subjects in painting in a spectacular way, like Picasso did in his time. His work is immense and has a wide range of variety and imagination.

So, I want to share with you a funny case about richter´s work, about the work that he made to the Cologne cathedral. He was invited to make a stained glass window to substitute the old one that was destroyed in World War II.

He used the same idea of his series of works “colour charts” for the stained glass window, that appear to be abstract paintings but, in reality, they are figurative paintings. The catholic religion don´t accept the abstract images, their ideology defend the figurative images. The muslims believe in the opposite, they don´t have faith in figurative images. They refuse the materialization of their saints.

Under these assumptions, Cardinal Joachim Meisner has been critical of richter´s stained glass window, and reportedly would have preferred a more traditionally figurative subject, he also said that Richter´s work seemed more fit for a mosque.

With these pronounced words, Joachim Meisner shows his few knowledge about art, about art subjects, and the most important, about the art made by the artist hired by the Catholic church to do the stained glass.

Can we talk about abstract painting in our days?

War, man-of-war, Camouflage and Art

Do you already seen some ship´s camouflage? If you never seen it, I will show you some for the first time in your life. I´m given such importance to this matter, because as you will see in this pictures below, this camouflage have something to do with fashion.

Yes fashion, why? Because in fashion people try to camouflage who they really are, and the fashion designers try to input is ideals to other people. In War what happens is the same thing, who starts fighting is trying to
input their ideals to others. But who they are really fighting are themselves, the person that they don´t want to be.

Returning to the ship´s camouflage, this habit was most developed in the second World War, and were made several studies about the visual impact of that kind of camouflage in the vision of the enemy. In the meanwhile this ideia of ship´s camouflage was already used by romans. Some of the camouflage were made to wide the ship, others to induce the enemy in error in the moment they fire against them, others are a little bit ridiculous and absurd. But all of them even the most ridiculous are beautiful and adorable.

Some of them I think we can said, are artworks. They are almost a conceptual artwork.

The aura of the objects. Benjamin, Malraux and Bansky

When we think about the ideas of Walter Benjamin and Andre Malraux, we find that they have different ideas regarding the reception of works of art.

However, disagreeing in some things and being in agreement with others in relation to the ideas of this two, the truth is that being confronted with situations implied with this ideas, we can´t sometimes disagree with them.

And I say this because I feel this about the work of English artist Banksy. I say this because I saw most of his work through photographs and I created an idea of his work, and when in a visit to Liverpool I came across with his work and I noticed a difference in be facing a art object and see this work in photos.

And about the work that I realized what Benjamin said, noting that the work of Bansky fell better in his urban support than I thought. But I realized to what Andre Malraux spoke in his “imaginary museum” realizing that the viewing of objects in an indirect way creates in us another parallel reality.  Making the two theories valid in its own way.

Animals, Art, Portugal 2, the story of the elephant salomao

Another story that is also about art, animals and kings, is the story of the elephant Salomao . Who was also a gift from a Portuguese King D.joao III to his cousin Archduke Maximilian of Austria. History that was made famous in the book of Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago “The Trip of the Elephant”.

As the history of the Durer´s rhino, this animal didn´t had great luck with the trip, because past two or three years to be delivered after a long journey, salomao not getting along with the environment died.

Their front paws served as a cloakroom at the entrance of the palace and their bones were used to make a throne, which in turn is a pretty nice seat which is now in a museum in Lisbon.
